How did Lebron become such an irritating diaper bag?

I've always been in awe of Lebron, the talent, but I've always kind of hated Lebron, the person.

I love seeing a super-talented guy stay humble and Lebron is as proud as they come.  He's got that I'm-amazing-and-nothing's-ever-my-fault attitude.  I mean, how could it be?  He's Lebron.  Seinfeld would call that the I'm Keith Hernandez syndrome.  Obviously, the Decision is high up on my hate list, but it goes deeper than that.  It's the stupid pre-game chalk-throwing that just begs for attention.  It's the fact that he's never really won anything but yet still refers to himself in the third person as King (his twitter name is KingJames).  It's that he doesnt think the rules apply to him, like how he didnt feel like being around for his player introduction this week against the Cavs since the fans their might actually boo him.  It's that after shooting 3-14 in a devestating Game 5 playoff loss to Boston, he mentioned in his post game presser that he "spoils a lot of people with his play" and that he's had three bad games in his seven-year career.  Must be the coach's fault.  The next game we see Lebron's buddy, coach Calipari, sitting courtside......of a playoff game.  From then on, speculation runs wild that Lebron will demand he be the next coach of the Cavs.  I could go on and on.....

Lebron isnt the only guy that acts like this, just maybe the worst offender.  So where did this prima donna crap start and who is truly to blame?  I think I have the answer....

At first I considered the Fab Five, since that ESPN documentary was still fresh on my mind.  After all, it was Jalen Rose who said "winning isnt the most important thing."  Everyone remembers the Fab Five, but nobody can remember the starting five for Duke or UNC those two years and they were the teams who actually won the tournament, right?  They were definitely style of substance, but I think the inmates started running the asylum long before the Jalen, Ray, Jimmy, Chris and Juwan, because the original prima donna was none other than.......Jimmy Chitwood.

Think about it.  He was a sick talent.  Townspeople claimed he was the best player they'd seen in 40 years.  He was the original franchise puppetmaster.  After deciding to finally take his talents back to the Hickory gym, he does so only on the condition he can hand-pick his coach, Lebron-style.  The town has no choice but to oblige.  Like Mike Brown with Lebron, Hickory's coach was afraid of its star player.  Maybe the most obvious example was the final play of the state championship.  Coach Dale had spent the entire season preaching team, team, team.  No one player was more important than another.  Nobody shoots until their are 4 passes.  How many passes?  4!!  Well, with 17 seconds left, game tied, and state championship on the line, that's all thrown right out the window.  Coach Dale gets a timeout and draws up a what he thinks is a great play.  They'll run the picket fence, using Jimmy as a decoy, allowing Merle an open look to win it.  Yeah, Jimmy's having none of that.  So what do we get?  Have a look....

That's right, clear out for Jimmy.  Coach says "screw it, we got #15, he hasnt missed all movie and he might fire me if I let somebody else take the last shot.  Get Jimmy the rock at the top of the key and everybody else get the crap out of his way so you dont screw it up.  We're gonna let him win it or lose it on a 22-foot contested jumper."  Can you not see this same exact thing playing out between Lebron and Mike Brown or Erik Spoelstra?  I guess the only difference is Jimmy actually makes the shot....
