The Daily Nickel
1. The D-Fdub spent the weekend scouting out the Rangers and enjoying the Phoenix weather. After watching games in a number of different ballparks, the most impressive by far was the "Talking Stick River Mud Ballpark" (or whatever the Rockies/Diamondbacks call it). Great views and great food but unfortunately that's the game the Rangers got shelled in.
2. Most surprising Ranger of the weekend was Mike Napoli. He played some decent 1st base, but it was his hitting that really stood out. We'll see how long Yorvit Torrealba holds him off as the starting backstop.
3. The worst preforming Ranger by far was Julio Borbon. He looked clueless in the outfield and even worse at the plate. I hope this 'Josh Hamilton in left field' experiment is over. Another experiment that I hope is over is Ian Kinsler in the leadoff spot. I know that he's had a good spring, but in the games where I watched him, he hit a pop up or a fly out in just about every at bat. Looks like his uppercut swing from 2009 is back.
4. Also unimpressive was the Mariner's ballpark because none of the seats actually faced the correct direction so you have to sit in your seat crooked. Other negatives were beat up grass in the outfield and no good food.
