The Daily Nickel

1. Streaking Mavs Win 14 of Last 15-  Seven Mavs in double figures, largest margin of victory on the season.  It looks like the D-Fdub isn't the only ones writing off a D-Will-less Utah... so are the Jazz players.

2. Cowboys Could Go After a Prince in Round 1- He has safety size and corner coverage skills.  Since we havent been able to find anyone that can play either position in the last couple of years, this seems like a good enough idea.

3. Rangers Lineup-  Kinsler hitting pop-ups in the leadoff spot again?  We hope not, but moving him up and dropping young down sounds about right... Could this be the real reason for Michael Young's temper tantrum?  I think we're on to something.

4.  Webb Feeling Good- There was a loud pssssst heard across the D-Fdub as Rangers fans hopes for repeating last seasons success deflated with the departure of Cliff Lee.  If Brandon Webb can get close to his old Cy Young contending self, we may not be as far away as it felt back then.

5. Donnie Nelson Likes Our Team- Heard this before.  So far "We like our team," has netted zero championships and equaled underachievement in the playoffs.

BONUS: Mavs Last-Minute Trade Talk-  Even with Donnie Nelson claiming, "We like our team,"  there are long shot opportunities still being thrown around.  JR Smith and Tayshaun Prince are the potential acquisitions, and Caron's expiring would be on the way out.  Both Smith and Tayshaun have their own expirings, so presumably it would take something more to get the trades done.  Both are immediate inserts into the starting lineup, but Tayshaun's skill set seems too close to Marion's (minus a hideously ugly shot) too change much if the Mavs would have to give up Roddy B.  Smith is more intriguing, like a Terry with a stronger defensive presence.  Still Roddy B is a lot to part with because of his ability to guard quick PG's defensively and drive the lane offensively, a commodity on this mostly jump-shooting team.  If all it takes is Caron and Dojo, I'm in... but, I'd rather stand pat than get one of these guys for Roddy B

***UPDATE*** Our sources tell us Detroit has turned down the Mavs offer of Caron and a first round pick for Prince.  More updates to come as the story develops....
