Dallas Mavericks vs. Atlanta Hawks (January 29, 2011)
Game Time 7:30
This will work like an interactive message board. Throughout the game we will record our stream-of-consciousness via the comments for this post. Feel free to contribute
I guess this won't be the typical grand opening puff piece. The fact is, the Mavs are a little tough to get up for lately. I look forward to Peja making his debut in the next couple of games, but I'm just hoping to be wrong about what I ultimately expect from him. I'm still hoping for a blockbuster trade in the weeks to come. Otherwise I guess we're all just crossing our fingers and seeing if Roddy B can play at an all-star level in his sophmore season
Before the game I'd like to post a few thoughts. As a Mavs fan living in Phoenix its hard to watch all the games I want to. Even with NBATV (thats our platform for tonights game in the 480), I haven't gotten to watch nearly as many games as I've wanted to or grown accustomed to in the past. This means that when they are on Nat'l TV I end up saying "Who the hell is Dominque Jones?" "Why are we starting DeShawn Lincoln?" "How many broken bones did Roddy have in his foot?" and "Why is Mahimi.... wow ok, not bad." I'm glad to have the German and his shaved pits back out there tickling the twine. The Hawks started slow, while the Mavs started hot and they both seemed to have switched spots since the Dirk injury, putting them at very similar records. The Hawks are coming off a win against a strong Knicks team, and the Mavs eeked one out against an unpredictable Rockets squad.
Looking forward to being a part of this inaugural Live Chat via blogspot. Even if it does end up just being Nate and I talking back and forth. In which case it will be your loss because we are both basketball savvy, and quite witty. LET'S GO MAVS!
Two minutes before our first blog of a Mavs game, the wife hands me our 4 month old daughter. On the downside, it's tough to type while she's kicking my hand away from the keyboard. On the plus-side, we have our first female follower.
Over/under JKidd 3's that turn out to be 2's bc his toe is on the line will be set at 0.5. Give me the over. In a time of Mav inconsistency, I know I can at least count on that.
Has Blake Griffin completely changed the requirements for an oop to be exciting. I used to be impressed by pretty much any oop, but with the daily top 10 Griffin oop I find myself reacting to normal oops with, "eh"
In 100 years discoverers will find a skull in the earth thought to be one of early man. Upon carbon dating the results will be inconclusive (half life of carbon-14 is 5730 years), and then they will realize its not early man its just Zaza Pachulia (a name that is a words with friends dream boat).
Based on his name I couldnt figure out how Zaza is not on the Mavs, but that pic totally cleared it up. There isn't room for DeShaun Stevenson and Zaza on the same team... one gangsta limit
First half thoughts... Mavs can't really shoot the ball much better from the field and line, 33% is pretty much a push from the arc. It's the 9 TO's that are killing them. How do we fix this? Dirk, don't travel. Sasha, only shoot jumpers if you're close to the hoop, kick it out. Hunter... teach this kid something?!
a)he cleans the glass b)He is old and bald c)he cleans up when he's out on the town with the other guys d)He solved a math problem on the chalkboard that none of the other students at Bunker Hill Community College could
Seriously, how far has Martin Lawrence fallen. I've never seen any of these big momma movies or any of the Tyler perry movies bc, you know, I'm white. But part of me has to wonder, even tho they look stupid, people must be watching em bc they keep getting made. Maybe they're good and I'm just missing out. Neh
Texas vs Mizzou on ESPNU. Really good picture quality! Mavs could use Jordan Hamilton. He's actually pretty good but I had a friend show me this and its AWESOME. Expect quotes from this flowchart for the duration of our friendship.... SHOOT!

ReplyDelete-Justin Turner
I'm gonna DVR the game and start watching when I get home.'it might be at midnight cuz his line at chipotle is ridiculous.
ReplyDelete-Edwin Marquez
Skin's hair is ridiculous
ReplyDeleteDallas is getting to be big time as a city... apparently adopting the fashionably late policy of the Heat.
ReplyDeleteSasha trying to get another 10-day... shooting everytime he touches it
ReplyDeleteSasha with a page out of Caron Butler's handbook on how to blow a layup
ReplyDeleteno more ten days. we have to sign Sasha for the rest of the year if we want to keep him
ReplyDeleteYou guys have seen more of him than me, thoughts on Pav?
ReplyDeleteI guess it couldn't hurt to have another Euro shooter for the rest of the season. He is pretty intimidating with that mask.
ReplyDeleteIf you have Brian Cardinal on your team, you have room for Sasha. Even with Peja coming soon, Sasha is worth keeping. Cut the Janitor.
ReplyDeleteI desperately wanna know what they showed on the big screen that made Dirk mouth "Oh my God!" and cover his mouth.
ReplyDeleteAnother blown lay-up for Sasha... I changed my mind, no contract

ReplyDeleteMark Followill just gave me a shout out!

ReplyDeleteI'm missing the Coach tonight. D.Harp just doesn't cut it for me.
ReplyDeleteJason Collins sighting! Why is Tyson Chandler holding a bowling ball on the bench? He really Munsoned that one.
ReplyDeleteBased on his name I couldnt figure out how Zaza is not on the Mavs, but that pic totally cleared it up. There isn't room for DeShaun Stevenson and Zaza on the same team... one gangsta limit
ReplyDeleteGay or not gay - having the name zaza
ReplyDeleteI say we employ a new strategy for the rest of this game.....it's called only passing it to your own team
ReplyDeleteWhy is Horford waving his finger at Chandler like he's Mutombo. Idiot
ReplyDeleteKidd, though old and dangerous behind the wheel, still can serve a purpose...Don't you go dying on me.
ReplyDeleteKidd fouled the crap out of Joe Johnson... It is nice that he still gets the star treatment
ReplyDeleteFirst half thoughts... Mavs can't really shoot the ball much better from the field and line, 33% is pretty much a push from the arc. It's the 9 TO's that are killing them. ReplyDeleteThey call him the Janitor because:
ReplyDeletea)he cleans the glass
b)He is old and bald
c)he cleans up when he's out on the town with the other guys
d)He solved a math problem on the chalkboard that none of the other students at Bunker Hill Community College could

ReplyDeleteSo anyone else watching the x-games during halftime? And yes it's super gay to have be named zaza.

Anyone else find the irony in Zaza being from Georgia and playing for Atlanta?!
ReplyDeleteThats like being from Dallas and playing for the Vaqueros (translated to Cowboys).
Pachuoluolu has tats all over his back that look like zits. Good work.
ReplyDeleteI'm saving up for this...
