Mavs 102, Wiz 92 - Mavs extend win streak to 5

Initially it was a little hard for me to get up for a late night DVR’d matchup against the lowly Wizards, who came to town sporting a 13-33 record. The Wiz have had major turnover the last season and a half, sending vets like Butler, Stevenson, Haywood, Jamison and Arenas out the door in favor of the current youth movement. They got Rashard Lewis back in the Arenas deal, but this team is all about John Wall now and to be honest, I hadn’t seen the kid play a full game this year, so he gave me reason to get excited.

MONDAY THINGS: A Little Sleep, A Little Slumber...

Drool sells it everytime
I think it's a valuable enough skill, that I am willing to suggest that every man should develop the art of pretending to be asleep.  I first began to employ this tactic while I was still living with my parents.  They seemed to possess particular disdain for gaseous expulsions, blanketedly attributed to me (I'm pretty sure dad and the dog found this convenient) and I found their reactions much less severe when they perceived me to be sleeping.  Through 5 years(ish) of marriage I like to think that I've perfected fake sleep.  It has helped me avoid changing dirty diapers, performing manual labor around the house, and long, meaningful conversations.

Dallas Mavericks 102 def. Atlanta Hawks 91

Check out our in-game conversation HERE

An unbiased side-by-side photo comparison
Something about facing Mike Bibby got me in a reminiscing mood.  After all in the early 2000's the Sacramento Kings featured him as our formidable playoff foes year in and year out.  Mavs basketball was exciting back then.  We had been bad for so long that success was new to us.  I think many of our fond memories of Steve Nash are directly related to his timing in Mavs history...

Mavs Window (January 20, 2011)

I’m not giving up on the Mavs yet, but I’ve got a bit of a wandering eye.  I figure we’ve got about 2 to 3 years left of high level Dirk, and we all got to see firsthand what life without him will be like.  I think the Butler injury could be a blessing in disguise because we were setting up to be another regular season juggernaut without the pieces to be a real title contender and now we’re forced to make a move to save this year’s chances.  The only problem is the only two names I hear associated with us that seem decent are Tashaun Prince and Steven Jackson.  I guess I’d be for Prince.  But, just in case this Mavs thing starts to fizzle I’ve found something to capture my attention… Blake Griffin

Cowboys Talk (January 11, 2011)

The Cowboys need to release Newman and sign Asomugha.  That guy is awesome and I think Newman is due $9mm roster bonus or something for next season.
Hunter

Newman, MB3, Columbo, and Brookings are a few that need to get the red slip
Ranger Rob

Getting that Ndami would be amazing.  Jerry has been hoarding money for the past few years so he should be able to afford him.
If we get Ndami (or whatever

Welcome to The D-Fdub

Sometimes my wife complains that all my friends and I want to do is watch sports.  In fact my desire to watch sports and her desire to watch The Real Houswives of The Bachelor Matchmaker are probably the things that we have least in common.  Sure, I can stomach some Flipping Out or Glee, and she'll try her hardest to cheer at the right parts of the Cowboy's game (and not the replays), but we've had to work out a system that let's me avoid the Kardashians and her ignore the 162 three hour long regular season Ranger games.

The truth is she's got it easy... I've lived in Texas my entire life (except a brief hiatus when college football didn't work out at Texas Tech) and I'm a 100% homer for my childhood teams. I don't do college, hockey, soccer or golf.  All she's really dealing with is the Cowboys, the Rangers and the Mavs.

Somehow I've found a group of friends that understand me.  Our atheletic endeavors range from high school JV to a little proffessional experience, but we all work the same way.  We're all emotionally involved with The D-Fdub pro sports teams.  If this works out right, the blog will cover everything that fills our lives...and it will be driven by our observations and solutions for our teams.  Let's see how it goes...
